As we expand and add new members to our team, we’ve had to come up with new and creative ways to make space for not only one another to sit and work but also space for people to actually meet.
One of our client partners is the American Headache Society (AHS), a professional society of health care providers dedicated to the study and treatment of headache and face pain. AHS has one of it not the largest team out of our client partners. Operating also with its public-facing organization, the American Migraine Foundation (AMF), the team had to have the ability to meet often (and on the fly) as well as have the ability to share what each team member is doing and what they are responsible for. The result? TMG rearranged the back area of the office, creating an open-space conference area amid the desks of the team members, giving them the ability to meet whenever they want to.
How does the team feel about the newest change? They’re happy to share.
“Questions are answered easier and sometimes quicker than if we didn’t all share the same area.”
“It’s easier to discuss issues or ideas in a timely fashion; we don’t always need to schedule a meeting, we can just do it.”
“The new layout allows for better team communications and collaboration.”
“Recently added to our ‘conference room’ was a flat screen TV which will allow us to bring Howard, who works remotely, into our meetings live via GotoMeeting.”
“We have a team white board where we track projects, meetings as well as the status of what is being worked on and who is responsible for it.”
After being created just a few months ago, the space is already clearly working and is helping the team to collaborate, communicate and grow its use of technology-coming all from moving a few desks.
