Leslie Teris, JD, CAE
Leslie has more than a decade of experience in the field of professional association management, primarily within an association management company but also as an independent executive director. She has participated in all aspects of association management, including development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures, the administration of awards programs, membership recruitment and retention, information systems transitions, and the coordination of electronic media initiatives. She also has experience supporting association components, from structured chapters to special interest committees to informal grassroots local groups. Leslie has had executive responsibilities for clients in a variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, applied psychology, publishing, and jewelry. She has led teams of in-house staff and outside vendors to achieve the objectives set by her clients, relying on strong communication and negotiation skills.
Leslie’s legal experience includes defending personal injury claims against supermarkets, elevator and escalator maintenance companies, and other commercial entities. This work entailed legal research, drafting correspondence and legal memoranda, responding to discovery requests in accordance with the New Jersey Court Rules, writing trial and appellate motions and briefs, maintaining a collegial relationship with other attorneys, and providing a high level of client service. Her legal training in research, analysis, writing, and advocacy translates directly to her role as an advisor to association leadership.
